SUPPORT THE CARAVAN! #FREEYAMILITH

by Free Our Neighbors

Yamilith came with the caravan from Central America to the United States to seek asylum because she was afraid for her life. She was imprisoned at the border and is still in immigration detention, but she has been granted a $6,000 bond. She doesn't have any money left from her journey, so let's free her!

Women asylum seekers often spend many months in detention after the Attorney General's recent decision stating that victims of gender-based violence are "generally" not eligible for asylum--a finding that immigration attorneys are vigorously contesting. Free Our Neighbors supports all victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence and their rights to seek safety.

This is an urgent campaign because Yamilith's next detained court date is at the end of April, and she will be able to present her case for asylum better if she leaves the detention center and finds an immigration lawyer (it would also mean her court date will be changed to non-detained, a less expedited docket, giving her more time to prepare her case).
